What do elephant eat?

Elephant are so large and powerful that adult elephants have almost no natural enemies or predators.

However, lions sometimes get so hungry that they will attack and kill a full-grown elephant. Usually, it is the larger male lions that take on this dangerous fight, and generally, it requires several of them to bring an elephant down.

Predators can more easily attack, kill and eat baby elephant—but usually their mothers and family members are watching closely and will not allow that to happen.

As for the question of what an elephant eats: Elephants are browsers, and they eat a variety of leaves and other plant materials.
