Vermilion or Venezuelan Cardinals

Cardinal Information

The Vermilion Cardinals (Cardinalis phoeniceus) – also known as Venezuelan Cardinals – are members of the cardinal family (Cardinalidae). They occur naturally in the South American countries of Colombia and Venezuela, where they inhabit subtropical or tropical dry shrubland areas.

The Vermillion Cardinals form a superspecies with the North American Northern Cardinals.
