Darwin’s Finches

The Vegetarian Finches (Platyspiza crassirostris or Camarhynchus crassirostris) belongs to the Darwin’s finch group of the tanager family Thraupidae. It is monotypic within the genus Platyspiza.

This finch is endemic to the Galapagos Islands, which are volcanic islands distributed around the equator in the Pacific Ocean, 972 km west of continental Ecuador.

It inhabitssubtropical or tropical dry forests andmontanes.
