Mountain Finches

Species of Mountain Finch in the genus Leucosticte:

  • Plain Mountain Finches, Leucosticte nemoricola: Found in Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, India, Kazakhstan, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. They inhabit temperate grasslands.
  • Black-headed Mountain Finch, Leucosticte brandti: Found in Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, India, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. They inhabit temperate grasslands.
  • Tawny-headed Mountain Finch, Leucosticte sillemi: Found only in China. Known only from two specimens collected in 1929 in the southern Xinjiang Autonomous Region, China.
  • Asian Rosy Finch, Leucosticte arctoa: Found in China, Japan, Kazakhstan, North Korea, South Korea, Mongolia, and Russia. They inhabit tundra and temperate grasslands.
  • Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch, Leucosticte tephrocotis
  • Black Rosy-Finch, Leucosticte atrata
  • Brown-capped Rosy-Finch, Leucosticte australis
