Dwarf Fruit Doves

The Dwarf Fruit Dove (Ptilinopus naina) is found in lowland and foothill forests in New Guinea and the Raja Ampat Islands.

Description:

The Dwarf Fruit Dove is the shortest dove or pigeon in the world, averaging a length of 13–15 cm (5.1 to 5.5 inches) – about the size of a sparrow. However, for its size, it is relatively thickset and several other species weigh less.

The plumage is overall green but with contrasting yellow undertail feathers and narrow bars to the wings. The female looks similar, except she lacks the purple patch on the belly of the male.
