What Eats An Eel?

What do eels eat?

Many types of eels live in rivers as well as in the ocean, but most of them do not look as ferocious as the moray eel in the photograph.

Eels have many predators, including large fish and seabirds. Some types of mammals, such as raccoons, like to eat freshwater eels. People eat eels, too, and sometimes set traps for them.

But the largest of eels, such as the moray, have very few natural enemies because most creatures are afraid of them.

As for the question of what an eel eats—most eels eat other fish and crustaceans.
