What do toads eat?
When they are tadpoles, young toads face all the same predators, or natural enemies, as any other immature amphibians. Fish, birds and a a variety of mammals all like to eat them.
But adult toads have far fewer natural enemies than adult frogs do. A toad’s dry skin contains glands that secrete poisonous chemicals. These chemicals can make predators very sick if they try to eat a toad.
So, very few animals make a habit of eating toads.
